Note: Her mother's maiden name is Coleman and her husband is buried in Riverside Cemetery.

HOLD LAST RITES FOR AN ESTEEMED AKRON FARM WOMAN

Mrs. Mary Ellen Harris Resided In Community More Than Fifty Years

As briefly mentioned in this paper last week, Mrs. Mary Ellen Harris, a resident near here for more than fifty years, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 1951, at the home of her sons, north of town, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 16 days. She had been in failing health during the past year.

Mary Ellen Coyle was born June 22, 1866, at Ridgeway, Wisconsin, where she grew to young womanhood. On January 26, 1896, she was united in marriage with Isaac Harris, of Barneveld, Wisconsin, and they came to Iowa and located on a farm three miles north of Akron, which has been the family home ever since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1939.

The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Snyder, of Akron; Mrs. G. W. Mills, of Wall, S. D.; two sons, Virgil and Cecil, of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Alice Clerkin, of Denver, Colo.; three brothers, F. J. Coyle, of Akron; Eugene Coyle, of Corsica, S. D., and John Coyle, of Hartford, S. D.; four granddaughters, Mary Ellen and Dorothy Snyder and Margaret Ann and Kathleen Harris, all of Akron; also by a number of nephews and nieces.

A devoted wife and mother, a valued friend and neighbor, Mrs. Harris was held in high esteem by all who knew her for her many fine attributes of heart and mind.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning of last week at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Chas. Ernst officiating. The pallbearers were L. D. Ross, Frank Trautt, Wm. BArninsky, Bernard McMahon, Art Friske and Wm. B. Ross. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Relatives in attendance at the funeral services from a distance were" Dr. and Mrs. G. W. Mills, of Wall, S. D.; Kirk Putnam and sons, Eugene and Leslie Putnam, and families, and Eugene and Leslie Putnam, and families, and Eugene Coyle, of Corsica, S. D.
