Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Eilt Siebens, pioneer resident of Plymouth county, who passed away last Thursday afternoon, November 9, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John W. Johnson, in Preston township. Services were held from the Johnson home at 1:30 and from the Grant township Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Rev. Bunge preached the English sermon. Interment was made in the Grant township cemetery.

Mrs. Fauke Gerdes Siebens, nee Saathoff, daughter of Gerd Saathoff and his wife, Antje Schmidt, was born on January 4, 1852, in Baugsted, East Friesland, Germany. In her early infancy she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 6, 1868, in Bangstedt.

On August 6, 1873, she was united in marriage to Eilt Siebens, and to this union nine children were born, one of whom died in infancy. In the year 1882 they left their home and country and came to America, settling in Minok, Woodward county, Illinois. There they resided until February, 1894, when they moved to Plymouth county, Iowa. Here they resided until the end of her earthly sojourn.

During the last years of her life, Mrs. Siebens has lived with her children, who gave her living care. At the time of her death she was living at the home of Mrs. Lena Johnson. At the time of her passing she had attained the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 5 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five daughters, Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. Dena Fisher, Mrs. Minnie Borchers, Mrs. Lena Johnson, and Mrs. Tina Plueger; three sons, Ger. Siebens, Claus Siebens, and John Siebens. Thierty-five grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive.
