Mrs. Fred Popken Taken By Death

Dies Following Six Weeks Illness

Mrs. Fred Popken, 66, resident of Plymouth county the past forty-four years, died at her home in Craig Monday night. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Popken suffered a stroke of apoplexy six weeks ago which left her speechless and helpless.

Diedricka Kathryn Johnson was born in Germany November 11, 1873, and came to Plymouth county when a young woman. She was married to Fred Popken and they engaged in farming in Preston township, later moving to Craig.

She is survived by her husband and the following children. Mrs, Theresa Rohlfs, McLain, Neb., Mrs. Lizzie Rohlfs, Ireton, Mrs. Tena Bloomquist, McLain, Neb., Mrs, Lille Luschen, Craig, , Mrs. Marie Dirks, Brunsvllle, Mrs. Frieda Ommen, Le Mars, Otto Popken, Craig, John, Akron, George, Plainview, Neb., Fred, Le Mars, Elmer, Hawarden, William, Brunsville.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon In St. John's Lutheran church in Craig, Rev. L. G. Hannemann officiating and interment made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Popken was a devoted wife and mother and homemaker and a fine Christian woman whose admirable qualities gained her the respect and esteem of all who knew her.
