Joseph "Jack" Mattas

Joseph W. "Jack" Mattas, 65, 3290 Martha St., Lot 118, Sioux City, died Tuesday (August 14, 1984) at his home after an extended illness.

Services were held a 10 a.m. Aug. 18, in he United Methodist Church at Merrill. The Rev. Donald Bardole officiated. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Merrill, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron.

Pallbearers were Melvin Marienau, Frank Marienau, Douglas Bremer, Herman Bremer, Donald Funk and Gerald Funk.

Mr. Mattas was born June 6, 1919, to Joseph and Mary Buryanek Mattas at Merrill. He lived most of his life in he Akron and Merrill areas and was a retired appliance serviceman. He was a member of the Merrill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Lonny) Myers of Akron and Beverly Matas of Sioux City; one brother, Frank of Le Mars; hree sisters Mrs. Carrie Marienau and Mrs. Eddie (Verna) Johnson of Le Mars and Mrs. Edith Bauerly of Sioux City; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Joyce.
