Le Mars, Iowa – Dolores D. Coad, 88, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Dolores Darlene Coad was born on December 8, 1925 in Struble, Iowa to Ernest A. and Gratie K. (Popken) Mueller. She graduated from Le Mars High School in 1944. During WWII Dolores moved to California and worked to support the war effort. She returned to the area after the war and took a position as a bookkeeper.
On January 12, 1951, Dolores and Nicholas R. Coad were united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa. During those early years Dolores was a homemaker. After her children were raised she worked at Anderson Accounting. Dolores later worked for Plymouth County Social Services.
Dolores was an avid bridge player. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her children, Dianne and Don Peterson of Ankeny, IA and William and Mary Coad of Mitchell, SD; grandchildren, Nicholas Coad and fiancé Teena Cochran of Tea, SD, Shawn and Sommer Ruhland and great-grandchildren, Liam and Olivia of Omaha, NE, Bradley Ruhland of Tucson, AZ and Christopher Ruhland of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nicholas in 1999; and a sister, Phyllis Wilson.
