HOLD LAST RITES FOR JOHN O. BLISS

Well Known Westfield Man Dies August 8 After Long Illness

John Otto Bliss, 77, of Westfield, Iowa, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 29, 1877, and died at the Akron Community Hospital on August 8, 1954, after an illness of several months.

He came during early boyhood to Iowa with his parents, locating on a farm near Akron. He and his twin brother, Charles, were baptized during infancy in the Lutheran church.

On March 17, 1900, he was united in marriage with Jennie Adeline Moniger at Hawarden, Iowa, and four children were born to this union. His wife and infant son, Charles, preceded him in death.

He has been a resident of the Westfield vicinity since 1905, operating a dray line there from 1911 to 1915.

He was a kind and devoted husband and father and a good friend and neighbor to all who knew him.

Survivors are: One son, Roy; two daughters, Mrs. Opal Hummel and Mrs. Eva Lilly, all of Westfield; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert, of Lakewood, Ohio, and Henry, of Westfield; also several nieces and nephews.

Funera services were hed wednesday, August 11, at the westfield Congregation Church, with Rev. Joseph Castle, of Sioux City, officiating, and burial was in the Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden. Pallbearers were: Earl Michael, Dike Spaulding, J. F. McVay, Nels Beaubien, philip Beaubien, Jr., and Art Hasenbank.
