Death Follows Brief Illness

Mrs. John E. Ericson of Akron, a sister-in-law of Mrs. S. W. Barker of Hawarden, passed away Saturday morning, July 21st, following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Union Creek Luthern church, northwest of Akron, with Rev. Edwards, the pastor, assisted by Rev. Emil Johnson of Omaha, in charge. Interment was made in the cemetery at the church.

Mrs. John E. Ericson was born at Wasa, Fineland, Sweden, June 20, 1865, and passed away July 21, 1928, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 1 day. There she was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to this country in 1886. The following year she was united in marriage with John E. Ericson. This union was blessed with two children, a son and a daughter, both of whom have preceded her in death. She united with the Union Creek Lutheran church in 1888, thus having served this church faithfully for 40 years. 1917 she moved to Akron and since then made her home continually at that place. Mrs. Ericson was loved by all, her happy and cheerful disposition created friendship wherever she went. She was kind and sympathetic to everyone, especially to those who were in sorrow and affliction. Like Hannah of old, she was able to console others because she herself had tasted the bitterness of having her dear ones taken from her. She was a most loving wife. She had always strive to do her duty to the man to whom she was given. The atmosphere in her home was in complete harmony with her life. She was a God fearing woman, Industrious and self sacrificing. She loved Christ and His church and served and supported the church willingly and faithfully. She was interested not only in the work of her local church but in all branches of work carried on in the synod and in God's kingdom throughout the world. She was not only a worker but a faithful church attendant.

She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, one sister and one brother in Sweden, one grandchild, Dorothy Hultgren and many other relatives together with a host of friends.
