At the age of three years she was left an orphan, her mother having died of typhoid fever while her father was on a trip to Greenland, he afterwards finding a watery grave in the Mississippi River. Mrs. Bredall was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran State Church.
In the year 1860, being then twenty-five years of age, she came to America and was married in November to Andrew Jensen. The marriage took place on board a ship (Bethelskibet) in New York harbor. Four children were born to this union, two of whom died and are bured in New York and New Jersey. In 1865 Jensen died from lung trouble and the widow, with her two remaining children, a boy and a girl, went back to Europe before Christmas the same year. The little boy died shortly after the arrival in Denmark.
After taking a course of study in midwifery at the University of Kiel, Germany, she went to Schleswig-Holstein and practiced her profession. There she met and married Christian Jensen Bredall, April 22, 1869. There she met and married Christian Jensen BRedall, April 22, 1869. Three children were born to them, two of whom have died, a son Andreas, and an infant daughter, the third being Mrs. Dr. A. Hyden, of Alcester. The Bredalls came to America and settled in Union County, where they resided until ten years ago, when they reitred and moved to Akron.
August 28, 1907, Mr. BRedall died and Mrs. bRedall came to live with her daughter and remained there until she was called hence January 27, at 3:30 o'clock a.m., after an illness of six weeks.
There remain also to mourn her departure four step-children, Mr. Bredall having also been married twic, These are: mrs. Maren Juhl, of Le Mars, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Marie Roman, making her home with dr. and Mrs. Hyden; Jens C. and Peter C. Bredall, of Union County, besides an adopted daughter, Mrs. Hannah Blum. Another stepson, Christian C., met his tragic death through an accident of fire about a year ago.
Mrs. Bredall practiced her profession up to the last few years and was often called upon, she being, on account of her efficient traning, very proficient in the same. She was a liberal giver to good causes and has been highly esteemed in thsi community. Peace to her memory.--Alcester Union.
