ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN IS CALLED TO FINAL REWARD

Rites Held Last Sunday Afternoon For Mrs. Bertha Anderson

In the death of Mrs. Bertha M. Anderson last Thursday morning, January 15, 1942, Akron and vicinity lost one of its oldest and most highly respected residents. She was a patient the last few days of her long earthly pilgrimage at the Akron Hospital where she was given every possible care and attention. She attained the ripe age of 91 years, 8 months, and 28 days.

Bertha Marie Ericson was born April 12, 1850, in Lannas Sweden. She grew to womanhood there, coming to the United States and Akron on the w8th of June, 1889. On September 21 1890, she was united in marriage with Mr. Gustaf Anderson. To him she was ever a good and faithful wife and she reared and mothered five children of his former marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson resided on a farm, west of town in Union county S. D. until 1899, at which time they moved to Akron and made their home here.

Together with her husband she joined the Big springs Baptist Church in February 1893. After coning to Akron to live they both affiliated with the Akron Baptist Church by letter on the 11th of July 1909 and she remained a good and faithful member until her passing.

Her husband preceded her in death on May 11, 1921.

She leaves to mour her passing, her three sons, Olaf, William and Robert Anderson: two daughters, Christine Anderson and Mrs. Marie Brundeen; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren one sister, Mrs. Anna Peterson Lannas, sweden; one brother, August Ericson, of Oakland, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews and a host of friends, who will always love and cherish her memory.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock in the Fist Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor Rev. John S. Meyer. The pallbearers were H. Shoulberg, Chas. M. Allen, W. E. Mellen, Clarence Kjose Herman C. Koch and Walter Young. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
