DEATH COMES TO OLAF ANDERSON MONDAY MORNING
Rites Are Held Here Wednesday Tor Former Union County ManMr. Olaf Anderson departed this life at the Panska Nursing Home in Hawarden on Monday morning, August 6, 1951, after being in poor health for about two years. At the time of his passing he was 81 years, 10 months and 27 days of age.
Olaf Anderson was born in Union County, South Dakota, on his parent's farm, about five miles northwest of Akron, September 10, 1869. His parents were Gustav and Martha Anderson. During childhood he was baptized as a member of Union Creek Lutheran church. He was the first child to be baptized in Union Creek church.
During most of his life he lived on a farm in Union County in the vicinity of his birthplace. About five years ago he moved to Akron and lived here until he entered the Panska Home a few years ago.
Those who knew him testify to his willingness to be helpful whenever and wherever there was need and to his quiet, unobtrusive friendliness.
Left to mourn his departure are; one sister, Christine, of Akron; two brothers, Robert, of Akron, and Will, of Van Nuys, California, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. David J. Roy. Mrs. Alvin Frisk sang, with Mrs. H. Shoulberg as accompanist. Acting as pallbearers were Stanley Anderson, Arnold Blunden, Donald Brundeen, Eric Karlson, Everett Brundeen and Alvin Frisk. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
Among the relatives who came from a distance were; Arthur, Oscar and Anna Lund, of Bruce, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Brundeen and son, Everett, of Cherokee, Iowa.
