DEATH COMES TO ESTEEMED FORMER AKRON RESIDENT

Rites Are Held Here Tuesday Afternoon For Mrs. August Anderson

Mrs. August Anderson a resident of the Union Creek community in Union County, S. D., and later of Akron, passed away Saturday, November 8, 1947, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clifford King, at Hornick, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 16 days, after a brief illness.

Anna Louisa Amelia Engstrom was born in Stockholm, Sweden, April 23, 1866. She came to the United States at the age of 18 years and upon arriving stayed at the home of her uncle, Oscar Engstrom, in Beresford, S. D., for a short time, after which she was employed in Sioux City, Iowa, where she was united in marriage with August Anderson, March 6, 1887. They located on a farm in Sioux Valley Township, Union County, S. D., where they lived for thirty-one years. They then moved to akron, which remained their home until Mr. anderson's death in 1929. While living in South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson joined the Big springs Baptist Church, later becoming members of the First Baptist Church, of Akron.

For the past sixteen years Mrs. Anderson has made her home with her daughters. During most of this time she has been blind and quite helpless, but through it all has shown great patience and Christian fortitude, always leaning on her Lord and Savior for comfort and strength.

Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Olga Okblom, of Concord, Nebr.; Mrs. edna Smith, of sacramento, Cal., and Mrs. Ruth King, of Hornick, Iowa; two sons, Eddie of Akron, and Rudolph, of sioux City; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, ed Engstrom, of Beresford, S. D., and a number of other relatives,.

Mrs. Anderson was held in high esteem by many friends in this community, who extend symathy to the relatives in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Akron, Tuesday afternoon, with relatives, friends and oldtime neighbors in attendance. Rev. Ellis L. Jackson used as his sermon topic, "Into the Morning" Solos, "Under His Wings" and "The Haven of Rest," were sung by Mrs. Hugh W. Swift, with organ accompaniment by Mrs. V. G. A dams. acting as pallbearers were Bernard Graves, Jack Roy, Rudolph Anderson, Eddie Anderson, Clifford King and Albert Anderson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

The Ladies' Association of the First Baptist Church served lunch after the service in the church social rooms for the family and friends.
