George F. Renken
George F. Renken, 78, Sioux City, died Saturday morning (July 16, 1977) at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Renken was born Dec. 14,1898, at LeMars. He married Flora F. Kruse on March 4, 1921, at LeMars. They moved to Sioux City from LeMars in 1936. He was a cattle buyer at the Sioux City stock yards and was working for the Wood Bros. commission company when he retired in 1966. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.
Survivors are his wife; a son. Duane of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Voss of LeMars; and three grandchildren.
Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at St.Paul's Lutheran church. Rev. Gerald M. Werth officiated. Burial was in the Grant township cemetery near LeMars under direction of the Nelson-Berger northside funeral home.
Pall bearers were Virgil and Leonard Halweg, Glenn Haage. Delmar and Lowell Gemetts and Gert Renken. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Bethesda Lutheran home at Watertown, Wis.
