John F. Renken, Well Know Local Man, Died Friday

Was Member Of Pioneer Plymouth County Family

John F. Renken, a resident of Plymouth County all his life, died Friday, February 16, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wm. Gerrietts, in Le Mars.

John F. Renken was born May 20, 1884, in Grant Township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Renken. He was baptized and confirmed in the Grant Township Lutheran Church. He attended the Grant Township school and later Western Union College.

February 16, 1905, he was united in marriage in Grant Township to Catherine Lubben, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lubben. To this union for children were born. One sone, Bernard, passed away in March, 1920, at the age of 12 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Renken lived on a farm in Portland township for five years after which they moved to Craig where Mr. Renken was a cashier in the Farmers SAvings Bank for over twenty years.

In 1932 the Renken famiy moved to Le Mars where Mr. Renken was the insurance business. On July 3, 1941, Mrs. Renken died suddenly of a heart attack. After her death Mr. Renken made his home with his daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Lang.

Mr. Renken helped build the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Chatsworth and after moving to Craig he helped start the St. John's Lutheran Chruch there. Since moving to Le Mars he had been afaighful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. he was a ember of Giblem Lodge, AF & AM.

He had been in failing health the past year suffering with a heart ailment. At the time of his death he was 60 years of age.

He leaves to mourn his departure, three children: Fred J. Renken of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Harold Frerichs of Sioux City and Mrs. Le Roy Lang of Le Mars, and six grandchildren, also hes aged mother, Mrs. Jurgen Renken; three brothers, Herman and Garret of Le Mars, and George of Sioux City; foure sisters, Mrs. Rank Aitken and Mrs. Conrad Gerriets of Akron, Mrs. Wm. Gerrietts and Mrs. Bertha Voss of Le Mars.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the St. John's Lutheran Church. Rev. L. L. Belk conducted te funera servies and interment was in the family plot in the Craig cemetery.

The pallbearers were John Schmidt and Henry J. Ludwigs of Craig, G. E. Eilers, Emil Becker, Lloyd Mauer and Chas. Tucker of Le Mars.

Mauers were in charge of the funeral.
