JURGEN RENKEN IS CALLED TO REWARD
Pioneer of This County Dies at 78 Years Age--Funeral Held Tomorrow
Jurgen Renken, a pioneer settler of this county, passed away at his home at 19 Third avenue S. W., at 11:30 o'clock last night. Deceased was over 78 years of age, and was widely known throughout this county. Hardening of the arteries was the cuase of his death.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, leaving the home at 1:30 o'clock and services at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating. He will be buried in the Grant Township Cemetery.
Mr. Renken was born in Friedeburg, Germany, on November 8, 1850, and came to the United States, settling in Jones Couty, Iowa, in the year 1868. He came to Plymouth County in 1873. eight years later he was united in marriage to Wilimine Berg, who lives today to mourn the loss of her beloved husband.
The following children survive with the devoted wife and mother: Herman Renken, John Renken, Garieth Renken, Minnie Oetken, Mary Gerrietts, Anna Gerrietts, Emma Dirks, George Renken and Bertha Voss. Thirty grandchildren, two sisters and a brother also mourn his loss, who are: Mrs. M. Popken of Craig, Mrs. T. M. Albers of Grant Township and Garieth Renken, of this city.
