Martin Wanderscheid Buried
On Police Force for 15 Years
Martin Wanderscheid, 64, well known LeMars police officer for 14 years, died Saturday at Sacred Heart hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. Wanderscheid was a lifetime resident of Plymouth county, and a LeMars resident for 25 years. He left the police force a month ago. He returned Thursday from Burbank, Cal., where he and his wife had spent the last month visiting relatives.
He was born Nov. 4, 1888. at Remsen, Ia. He married Miss Cecelia Schilz May 11, 1915 at Remsen.
Survivors are the widow; five sons, Paul of Moville, la., Harold of LeMars; Martin, Jr., of Granville, la.; Jerome of Burbank, Cal., and Dale of Amarillo, Tex.; six daughters, Mrs. Dwayne Hodge of Burbank, Cal.; Mrs. Frank Ernst, Mrs. Elmer Ernst and Mrs. Ray Ernst, all of LeMars; Mrs. Vero Calkins of Struble, la., and Miss Rita Wanderscheid of LeMars.
Wiltgen - Luedtke funeral home was in charge of the funeral services Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch officiated and burial was in Calvary cemetery.
