Former Plymouth County Farmer Dies In Accident Automobile Struck By Passenger Train At Moville

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Ernst, former Plymouth county farmers, were killed and their daughter, Elsie, seriously injured. Saturday afternoon when their car was struck by a Northwestern passenger train at a Moville crossing. Mr. Ernst was killed instantly, his wife, Ellen, died a few minutes after the accident and the daughter, Elsie, is still in a serious condition in a Sioux City hospital.

The accident occurred within the city limits of Moville and the car was carried over 200 yards and demolished. The body of Mr. Ernst was thrown out of the car about 150 feet from the crossing and Mrs. Ernst was alive when taken from the wreckage. The accident occurred in the north part of Moville.

Mr. Ernst was 68 years old and had lived in Plymouth county until he moved to the farm near Moville few years ago. Mrs. Ernst is 61 years old and their daughter, Elsie, is 25. Mr. Ernst was better known to his Plymouth county acquaintances as "Tony."

Survivors include three daughters in addition to Miss Elsie Ernst, Mrs. Sophia Stodden of Kingsley, Mrs. Ethel Wanderscheid of Moville and Mrs. Eveline Hoffman of LeMars, and four sons, Jess of Moville. and Raymond, Frank and Elmer, all of LeMars.

Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Ernst will be 10 a. m., Tuesday, November 2, at St. Michael's Catholic church at Kingsley. Rev. R. J. O'Reilly will officiate. Burial will be in the Kingsley cemetery.
