Kingsley News-Times: Elsie Ernst was born August 30, 1924, on a farm near Mapleton. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to a farm northwest of Kingsley. She also lived with her parents at LeMars before they moved to Moville in 1940. She attended school at Union consolidated and at LeMars.

She was a member of the Emaculate Ladies Guild at Moville. She died of injuries received in a car and train accident, at the same time her parents lost their lives on October 30.

She passed away at St. Vincent hospital, November 2, not regaining consciousness. She leaves to mourn her death three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Sophie Stodden, Kingsiey; Mrs. Eveline Hoffman, LeMars; Mrs. Ethel Wanderscheid, Moville; Jess Ernst, Moville; Frank, Ray and Elmer Ernst, LeMars; also 15 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Michael's church at Kingsley with Father O'Reilly officiating.

Burial was in the St. Michael's cemetery. Pall bearers were five nephews and one cousin.
