Mrs. Eva Bender, a well known resident of Plymouth county, died on Friday, October 18, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Winter, near Hinton, at the age of 76 years. About a year ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never fully recovered.
Mrs. Bender was born in Germany. Her maiden name was Eva Gerhart and she was bonr on October 24, 1842, and came to this country when a young woman.
Mr. and Mrs. Bender came to Plymouth county from Lee County, Illinois, in 1868, and took up land and engaged in farming at which they made a success.Christian Bender died in 1909, since which time Mrs. Bender made her home with her children. After living for many years in Hungerford township Mr. and Mrs. Bender came to Le Mars in 1894 where they lived until the death of Mr. Bender.
Mrs. Bender is survived by three sons and one daughter, Geo. H. Bender, of Hungerford township, Rev. J. C. Bender, of Sioux City, and Mrs. Henry Winter, of Hungerford. There are also ten grandchildren.
Mrs. Bender was a faithful Christian, a good wife and loving mother.
The funeral took place on Sunday at the Melbourne church and the interment was made in the cemetery at that place.
