A GOOD WOMAN GONE

Mrs. Winter Had Lived in Hungerford for Fifty Years

Mrs. Mary C. Winter died at her home in Hungerford township on Monday, March 4, following an illness from cancer.

Mrs. Winter had lived in the vicinity of the place where she died for fifty years and was widely known in the community.

Her maiden name was Mary C. Bender. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Bender, pioneer settlers in the Floyd Valley and for many years residents of Le Mars.

She is survived by her husband and one son and one daughter, Rudolph C. and Martha O. Winter. She also leaves to mourn her death, her aged mother, Mrs. Christian Bender, her sister, Mrs. Henry Winter of Hungerford township, and three brothers, George Bender, of Hinton, Rev. John Bender, of Clinton, Minn., and Wm. F. Bender, of Sioux City.

The funeral was held from the home on Wednesday afternoon and services were held at the Melbourne church, the pastor, Rev. F. W. Agie, officiating, assisted by Rev. F. Weikel, of Hinton.

Mrs. Winter was a loving daughter, wife and mother and an able homemaker. She was active in affairs for the good of the community and zealous in church and Sunday school work. She was a life long member of the United Evangelical church.
Mrs. Winter was highly esteemed in the community where her life was passed and is sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends and neighbors.
