Mark D. Peters, 60, of Le Mars, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center, in Le Mars.

Mark Donald Peters was born on July 21, 1954, in Le Mars, the son of Donald M. and Ruth (Stahmer) Peters. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, in Le Mars, on Aug. 1, 1954, and confirmed there on April 25, 1971.

Mark attended Le Mars Community Schools. After receiving his education, he made his home on the family farm. He raised hogs and sheep and assisted his parents with crop farming.

In early years, Mark was active in 4-H with the Elgin Eagles. He later submitted his gladiolas in the open class at the Plymouth County Fair.

Mark was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Le Mars, for over 40 years. He looked forward to vacations at Lake Okoboji.

His favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers and the LA Lakers.

Mark also liked to play cards and listen to music.

He took these hobbies with him to Plymouth Manor when he moved there on Aug. 3, 2011.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Ruth Peters, of Le Mars; a sister, Patricia Harrison and her husband Dwight, of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Jim Peters and his wife Kay, of Le Mars; he was a proud uncle to, Tricia (Aaron) Schoenfeld, of Vicenza, Italy, Angela (Chad) Fritsche, of Rochester, Minn., Capt. Dustin (fiancé Heather Byrnes, of Clarksville, Tenn.) Harrison, of Liberia, Africa, Rebecca Peters, of Okoboji, Jill Peters, of Okoboji, and Laura Peters, of Fruita, Colo.; a grandniece, Addison Fritsche, of Rochester, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald on Aug. 31, 1998; and his grandparents, A.T. and Beth Peters, Rev. H.D. and Celeste Stahmer.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Le Mars.

The Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow and Rev. Peter Rosenkvist will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, in Le Mars.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today (Monday), at the Mauer -- Johnson Funeral Home, in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. to greet friends. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
