Well known woman bowler Daisy Bartlett dead at 88
Daisy D. Bartlett, 88, longtime Le Mars and area resident died Friday morning (May 12, 1978) at Floyd Valley hospital after a brief illness. She had been a residen of Plymouth Manor care center and had been hospitalized only three days.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ with Rev. Ralph Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
The former Daisy D. Jones, she was born Nov. 10, 1889, at Morrisonville, Ill., to Joseph and Sarah (Scott( Jones. She had lived most of her life in the Ireton area until moving to Le Mars in 1934. She was married Feb. 23, 1913, to Isaac J. Myers who died March 14, 1922. She then married C. Floyd Bartlett, Feb. 24, 1927. Mr. Bartlett died Aril 14, 1960.
Mrs. Bartlett was a member of the Eagles auxillary. She was well known in bowling circles and a longtime member of the Le Mars Women's Bowling Assn. Daisy was honored by Le Mars women bowlers in 1970 on her 80th birthday as the oldest woman bowler in the Le Mars leagues and possibly in Iowa at that time.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William (Marcella) Beckmann of Cape Corral, Fla., and Mrs. Clarence (Rouletta) Halter, Le Mars; 12 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three step-children, Mrs. Edwin (Evelyn) Swanson of Sioux City, Claude Bartlett of Lihue, Hawaii, and Edward Bartlett, Cherokee; 13 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, six brothers, two sisters, a daughter, step-daughter and grandson.
