Floyd Bartlett
Floyd Bartlett, 71, a lifelong resident of the Le Mars and Ireton communities, died April 14 at Sacred Heart hospital.
He had been in ailing health for several years after suffering a fractured leg. Mr. Bartlett had been hospitalized 11 days.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian church, with Rev. James Ransom officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery under the direction of the Mauer's funeral home.
Cyrus Floyd Bartlett was born Oct. 11, 1888, at La Porte City, Iowa. He had resided most of his life in the Ireton area until moving to Le Mars in 1934. He was a retired farmer.
His marriage to Daisy Jones took place Feb. 23, 1927, at Sioux City. She survives him as do four children, Mrs. Edwin (Evelyn) Swanson, Calaude Bartlett of Honolulu, Hawaii, Edward Bartlett of Cherokee and Mrs. C. (Dorothy) Mueller, and three step-daughters, Mrs. Emory (Cleone) Viotho of Ireton and Mrs. Marcella Borchers and Mrs. Clarence (Rouletta ) Halter, both of Le Mars.
Also surviving are 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and a brother, Mrs. Lena Kropp of Norfolk, Neb., Mrs. Gladys Melton of Sioux City and Alvin Bartlett of Belden, N. M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Newton and Lydia Wright Bartlett, and his first wife, Mary Hennessy Bartlett, who died in 1918.
Mr. Bartlett was baptized in the Presbyterian church and was a member of the Eagles lodge.
