John Thomas Harker, 72, Sioux City, died Friday night (September 28, 1962) at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Harker was born Nov. 17, 1889, at Merrill. He was a painting contractor and served with the Rainbow division in world war 1. He was wounded at Chateau Thierry.

Mr. Harker was in the contracting business at Sioux city until his retirement seven years ago. He was a member of Grace Methodist church and Monahan post of the American Legion.

He married Inez Clark at Moville in September 1922.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Penning of Los Angeles and Mrs. Kenneth Crosby of Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Lyda Walker of Merrill and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside. Rev. Arthur J. Kindred of Grace Methodist church will officiate. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Monahan post, American Legion
