WESLEY EYRES RITES TUESDAY
Well Known Citizen Died Sunday Following Operation

Wesley H. Eyres, well known citizen of this community, passed away Sunday (December 17, 1939) morning following a sickness of one week. Mr. Eyres underwent an operation a week ago.

Wesley Heber Eyres, was born June 14, 1866, in Ontario, Canada, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Eyres, and the sixth child of a family of 11. He came to Union township, Plymouth county, Iowa, in March, 1882, and was married to Agnes H. Steele on March 18, 1896. To this union four children were born: Chas. W., of Merrill, Iowa; Mildred, who died in 1905; Harry E., of Los Angeles, Calif., and Esther E., of Des Moines.

Surviving besides his widow and children are his brothers, Wm. H. Eyres, R. S. Eyres, Chas. E. Eyres and A. E. Eyres, and his sisters, Mrs. Wm. Begg and Ethel M. Eyres of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Margaret Pearson, Zack and Thomas, and Mrs. A. T. Stokes.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Union township Presbyterian church and interment will be in the Union township cemetery under the direction of Mauer's funeral home. Dr. J. Heemstra, of Orange City, a Former pastor, will have charge of the services. Six nephews of the deceased will act as pallbearers and a quartette of nephews and nieces will sing for the services.

Mr. Eyres had been a successful farmer in Union township for many years and his loss will be keenly felt in the community.
