HOLD LAST RITES FOR MRS. N. R. KNAPP
Had Been Resident of Milnerville Community

A brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Mrs. N. R. Knapp at her home, southeast of Westfield, on Wednesday evening, March 29, 1939, after an extended illness following a paralytic stroke, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 16 days.

Lena Wilcox was born in Savanna, Illinois, August 13, 1875. Her early years were spent in Savanna, where she completed her high school education. She came with her parents to Akron, Iowa, in 1892. Following her arrival in Akron, she taught school until February 17, 1897, when she was united in marriage with Noah R. Knapp. Their first home was in Union county, S. D. In 1902 they moved to their home, southeast of Westfield, where they have since resided. Mrs. Knapp's survivors include her widower, N. R. Knapp; one son, Ward Knapp, who resides on the home farm; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Nelson, of Akron; four grandchildren, and two half-brothers, L. F. Whitney, of Tipton, Iowa, and Clyde Whitney, of Amarillo Texas.

Her first interest was in her home and family, although every worthwhile project received her ardent support. Her love for her church was second only to her family. She was a leader and faithful worker in the Sunday school until the time of her death. This esteemed woman will be sincerely missed and mourned in the community where she has resided so many years.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock last Friday afternoon in the Akron M. E. church, conducted by Rev. J. F. Moore. Hymns were sung by Miss Cloyee Hasbrook, of Sioux City, sister of Mrs. Ward Knapp, with Mrs. Pearl Pollock at the piano. Interment was in Riverside cemetery
