MRS. E. FERGUSON CALLED BY DEATH

Funeral Services To Be Held Saturday Afternoon

Today, just after the dawn the Angel of Death stopped at a hallowed spot, which for many years has been called "home" by a large family, and mercifully released the spirit of a devoted and much beoved mother from her pain racked body.

Elizabeth Ann Ashton was born in Lincolnshire, England, October 8, 1864, and came as a small child with her parents to this country, settling first at Kent, Ill., moving from there to Freeport and later to Le Mars where she has since made her home.

She was united in marriage with Charles Smith and after his departure she became the wife of Michael N. Ferguson on October 10, 1887.

She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons, Alfred Smith of Moville, William Smith, of Le Mars; six daughters, Mrs. Herman Gerber of Alton, Iowa; Mrs. Roy Jennings and Mrs. Arnold Coppock of Le Mars; Mrs. N. E. Luken of Omaha, and Mrs. Leslie Bowen of Maurice, Iowa, Mrs. J. D. Lannon of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Flicknger, of Le Mars, besides the grandchildren and many friends.

One son John P. passed away on June 22, 1919, from a sickness contracted during the World War. On November 8, 1929, death again entered her home and took from her side her faithful companion.

At a very early age she united with the United Brethren church at Kent, Ill., and she has been a faithful member of the First Baptist church of this city for more than a quarter of a century. She ordered her life in accordance with the teachings of the lowly Nazarene whose devoted follower she has been for many years. Her life is a beautiful memory to those who had the priviledge to know her well. It can be truly said of her. "She hath done what she could."

The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. T. P. Potter on Saturday from the house at 2 o'clock and at the First Baptist church at 2:30 with Wiltgen's in charge.
