MICHAEL FERGUSON CLAIMED BY DEATH

Aged Pioneer Dies Following Sickness Lasting Two Years

Michael N. Ferguson, aged pioneer of this city, and well known throughout this comunity, died at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Friday, following sickness that lasted for two years.

The funeral was held this moring from St. James church at 9 o'clock, Father L. J. Cooper officiating. Burial was made in the City cemetery, Wiltgen's funeral directors in charge.

Mr. Ferguson was born in Ireland on July 15, 1857, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ferguson, and at the time of his death was 72 years, 3 months and 23 days of age.

Deceased came to this country when a youg man, settling at Utica, N. Y. he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ashton Smith in Le Mars on October 8, 1887, and lived in Le Mars since that time. Mr. Ferguson, for many years, was employed with the Illinois Central railroad as crossing watchman at the flag station in Central avenue. He retired from active service about 10 years ago.

He leaves to mourn his death, his beloved wife and the following children: Mrs. John Lanon, Chicago; Alfred Smith, Moville, Ia.; William Smith, Le Mars; Mrs. F. C. Hinde, Craig: Mrs. Roy Jennings, Arco, Minn.; Mrs. Arnold Coppock, Lake Benton, Minn.; Mrs. Nick Luken, Omaha and Mrs. Leslie Bowen, Struble.

Deceased enjoyed the acquaintances of many friends, who join with the beloved wife and family in mourning the passing of a pioneer.
