DOROTHY COTE
Dorothy Cote, 85, of Merrill died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing and rehabilitation center. The former Dorothy Vehe was born July 12, 1916, in Hinton the daughter of Henry and Clara (Larsen) Vehe. On July 11, 1940, she married Armand Cote in Sioux City. She and her husband resided in Alameda, California, from 1942 until 1971. She had worked at Safeway Grocery Store in Alameda for nearly 30 years. Mr. Cote died April 11, 1971. After her husband’s death, she moved back to Merrill where she lived until October 2001 when she moved to a Sioux City nursing and rehabilitation center. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill and their Alter Society. Survivors include a brother, Ervin Vehe and his wife Lucille of Hinton; three sisters, Mary Trometer of Merrill; Verna Groepper and her husband Loren of Kingsley; and Velma Payne of Sioux City. Preceded her in death by her parents, a sister Alta DeRocher, and brothers-in-law Glen Trometer, Ken Payne and William DePocher. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery at Ellendale.
