RICHARD VANEVERA
Richard VanEvera, 56, of Hinton died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at his residence. Services were held Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Casper Post 477. Mr. Van Evera was born August 2, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Ddorothea (Schneider) VanEvera. He grew up on the family farm in Hinton and attended Hinton schools. He graduated from Hinton High School and attended Westmar College in Le Mars. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietman Conflict. He married Phyllis Sievers on April 7, 1967, in rural Albert City, Iowa. He farmed in the Hinton area for the last 30 years. Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Hinton, a son and his wife Jason and Julie Van Evera of Hinton, a daughter Jennifer Van Evera of Onawa, two sisters Linda Gries and her husband Eldon of DesMoines Iowa, and Lt. Col. Edith Van Evera of Germany and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents a sister Donna and a niece Vicky.
