William Utesch

William Frank Utesch, 89, LeMars, died Thursday (Aug. 24, 1978) at Plymouth Manor care center, LeMars, after an illness of several months.

He was born April 16, 1889, in Washington township, rural Merrill. His parents were August and Wilhelmina Peters Utesch. He farmed until 1940 and worked at Plymouth Mills and LeMars Hatchery. He had lived in Washington township until 1940 when he moved to LeMars.

Mr. Utesch and Barbara Gardner were married Sept. 14, 1910, at Elk Point, S.D.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's American Lutheran church, LeMars, with Rev. William Striepe and Rev. Waldemar Gies officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran cemetery in Johnson township, rural Merrill, under direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are five sons, Everett of Colorado Springs, Colo..; Donald of Sioux City; Arthur of Wynot, Neb.; Arnold of Loveland, Colo., and Ronald of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Ivan
(Elvira) Schullz and Mrs. Elmer (Leila) Kruse. both of LeMars; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church. He was preceded in death by his wife
in 1971, by three infant daughters, four brothers and two sisters.
