Mrs. William Utesch

Mrs. William Utesch, 82, 521 Second Ave. SW, LeMars, died Sunday at her home after a seven month illness.

Bertha Pauline Gardner was born Oct. 17,1889, at rural LeMars, the daughter of Robert and Harriet Middlestead Gardner. Her marriage to William Utesch took, place Sept. 14, 1910, at Elk Point. The couple farmed in Washington township until retiring to LeMars in 1940.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran church, LeMars. Rev. Arnold Imbrock and Rev. William Strelpe will officiate and burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery,
Johnson township, rural Merrill, under direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars.

She was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church and ALCW.

Survivors are her husband; five sons, Everett of Colorado Springs; Donald of Sioux City; Arthur of Wynot, Neb.; Arnold Utesch of Spencer and Ronald Utesch Of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Elvira) Schulz and Mrs.Elmer (Leila) Kruse, both of LeMars; 19 grandchildren and 15greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters and three infant daughters.
