Fredrick J. Gronemeyer
Fredrick Johann Gronemeyer, 95, of Le mars, died Friday (DEc. 7, 1984) at Floyd Valley hospital in Le mars after a brief illness.
Funeral was 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars. Rev. David Kramer officiated. Burial was in St. John's cemetery in Craig. At the Mauer-Johnson funeral home sunday, visitation was after 2 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers were: Gene Gabel, Bill Dreckman, Fred gronemeyer, randy Hazel, Don Gronemeyer, and Paul Gronemeyer.
Mr. Gronemeyer was born Feb. 19, 1889, in Preston township to Fred H. and Wilhelmine Barinsky Gronemeyer, where he was raised and educated. He married Caroline Marienau Dec. 18, 1912, at Ireton. The couple farmed in Preston township, Plymouth county, until retirement in 1952, when they moved to Le Mars.
He was the first child baptized at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, Preston township, rural Akron, where he was also confirmed in the Lutheran church. After retiring from farming, Mr. Gronemeyer did carpentry work. He repaired and conducted furniture at his home. He was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1957.
Survivors are daughters, Mrs. Herman (Loris) Heeren, Mrs. Rudy (Velma) Dreckman, both of Le Mars, and Mrs. francis (Velgene) Hazel of Akron; a son, Wendall of Ireton; a sister, Mrs. Caroline Barker of Le mars; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by a son, Lyle; four brothers, George, John, William, and Arthur.
