George W. Gronemeyer
George W. Gronemeyer, 84, Preston township farmer who retired to Le Mars in 1945, died Friday (Jan. 24, 1975) at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars where he had resided the last four years. he had suffered a long illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27, at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars. Rev. William Striepe officieated. Burial was in the Le Mars Memorial cemetery under the direction of Mauer Funeral home.
Mr. Gronemeyer was born Nov. 10, 1890, in Preston township where he had spent most of his life. His marriage to Ethel Schyler, took place Oct. 14, 1920, at Sioux City.
She preceded him in death in January 1971, as did his parents, Fred and Wilhelmine Barinsky Gronemeyer.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. eDwin (Irma) Ellers and Mrs. Vernon (Shirley) Ludwigs, both of Sioux City; one son, Wayne of rural Ireton; six grandchildren; four brothers, fRed, William, aRthur, all of Le Mars, and John, Cherokee, and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Barker, Le Mars.
Mr. Gronemeyer was a member of st. John American Lutheran church and director of the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.
