AKRON WOMAN DEAD
Was an Early Settler in Northwestern Iowa
Akron Register Tribune: Mrs. H. M. Wilcox passed to her reward from her home in Akron, Sunday evening, October 26, 1919, after a brief illness of bronchitis and complications incident to advanced age.Harriet M. Warrell was born in New York, December 24, 1839. She was united in marriage to Austin J. Wilcox on January 1, 1858, in Georgetown, Madison county, N. Y. In the early 60's they came west to northwest Iowa, residing at Spirit Lake and Boone, and a number of years ago the family located on a farm west of Akron in Union county, S. D. Mr. Wilcox preceded his wife to the great beyond, having passed away April 4, 1894. Since that time her daughter, Nettie, has been her constant companion, tenderly caring for her, willing to deny herself in order to administer to the comforts of her mothr for which she deserves the highest of praise.
Those left to mourn the loss of a kind and tender mother are three sons and two daughters--Edward A. of Kimball, S. D.; Mrs. Alice M. Card of Hawarden, Ia.; Miss Nettie Wilcox, of Akron, Ia.; and Frank E. and Charles Arthur Wilcox, west of Akron, in Union county, S. D., besides one sister, Emily Mills, in Madison, New York; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. E. Spahr at the Akron M. E. church Tuesday afternoon with many friends and old time neighbors in attendance. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
