DEATH SUMMONS GEO. HITZEMANN
Former Akron Barber Had Resided in California the Past Thirteen Years
The sad news was conveyed in a telegram received by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Whitehouse of the death of her brother, George Hitzemann, at a hospital in Long Beach, Calif., on January 18, 1936, following a second operation on his leg. Three years ago he suffered the amputation of the other leg, and has since been in failing health as a result of diabetes and hardening of the arteries. He attained the age of 61 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Mr. Hitzemann was born in eastern Iowa in 1874 and when a boy came to Akron with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hitzemann. He grew to manhood here and was united in marriage with Miss Hannah Simeon, also a member of a pioneer Plymouth county family. For a number of years Mr. Hitzemann was engaged in the barber business here, and thirteen years ago moved with his family to Long Beach, Calif., where he worked at his trade as long as his health permitted.
By his upright character and jovial nature, he gained a host of friends in Akron and the surrounding territory who will sincerely regret to hear of his passing, and who offer their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Hannah; two sons, Merlin and Emeral; on granddaughter, Ramonda Hitzemann; four brothers and two sisters, August, Herman and Louis Hitzemann, of Akron; Charles Hitzemann, of Sioux City; Mrs. Chris Reemts and Mrs. Wm. H. Whitehouse, of Akron, besides a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral and interment were at Long Beach.
