DEATH COMES TO A FORMER AKRON WOMAN ON JULY 6

Mrs. Hannah Hitzemann Dies At Her Home In Long Beach, Calif.

Old-time friends here will learn with regret of the death of a former well-known Akron woman, Mrs. Hannah Hitzemann, who passed away at her home in Long Beach, Cal. a week ago last Thursday, after about a ten days illness following a stroke. She was 71 years of age.

Hannah Simeon was born in Plymouth county, a daughter of John and Katherine Simeon, who were among the earliest settlers in the county, coming from Jackson county, Iowa, in 1878, and homesteading 80 acres in Liberty township, where their sod shanty was the first habitation erected north of Sioux City.

After her marriage to George Hitzemann, they made their home in Akron for a number of years, Mr. Hitzemann operating a barber shop here for several years.

Mr. and Mrs. Hitzemann and sons, Merlin and Emral moved to California a number of years ago, where her husband and oldest son, Merlin, preceded her in death.

Surviving her are one son, Emral, of Long Beach; one sister and one brother, Mrs. Clara Luken and Joe Simeon, both of Le Mars, Iowa. Her nephews residing in Akron vicinity are Frank Simeon, Henry, Adolph and Carl Hitzemann, and a niece, Mrs. Albert Von Hagel.

Mrs. Hannah Hitzemann was noted for her genial nature and happy disposition and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.
