Adolph L. Hitzemann, 90, Akron, Iowa, died Tuesday (Feb. 14, 1989) at Floyd Valley hospital, Le Mars.

Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Akron. Rev. Allen Bidne, officiated. Gary Tucker, soloist, sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "The Lord's Prayer". Congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by organist, Pam Richards. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroeder funeral home, Akron. Pallbearers were Bill Benning, Wilburt Bowers, Marvin Hitzemann, Harold Kleihauer, Steve Sigman and Charles Von Hagel.

Adolph Louis Hitzemann was born February 10, 1899, in Westfield township, Plymouth county, Iowa, to August and Caroline Offenerde Hitzemann. He was baptized March 1, 1899, in Westfield township by Rev. Fred Meske. He was confirmed April 5, 1914, at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, by Rev. Meske. He married Alpha Johnson February 10, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa. They farmed in Union county, S. D. till 1941 when they moved to a farm west of Chatsworth, Iowa. Mrs. Hitzemann died in August, 1964, and he continued to live there until entering the Akron City Convalescent Care Center in April, 1984. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran church, Akron.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Margaret) Hartman, Alcester, S. D.; a son, Melvin and his wife, Eleanor, Akron; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha, a son and daughter in infancy, his parents, two brothers, Henry and Carl and an infant brother Frederick, two sisters, Mrs. Bertha (Geo.) Lammers and Mrs. Minnie (Albert) Von Hangel.
