LE MARS, Iowa — Mildred A. Kinney, 80, of Le Mars died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Oyens, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. said by the Christian Mothers Society and a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Kinney was born Aug. 13, 1917, in rural Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Wilhemia "Minnie" (Meis) Delperdang. She moved with her family near Oyens. She was raised in Oyens and attended St. Catherine's Catholic School.

She married Joseph M. Kinney on May 24, 1941, in Oyens. The couple farmed near Oyens until retiring to Le Mars in 1983. He died Aug. 3. 1987.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Jolene Kinney of Le Mars; a son and his wife, Jim and Shirley of Le Mars; five grandchildren, Cissy, Jimmy, Theresa, Jason and Kelly; a great-grandson; three sisters, Dorothy and her husband Robert Konz of Le Mars, Rita and her husband Urban Wiederholt of Oyens and Sister Janet Delperdang of Parsons, Tenn.; a brother and his wife, Francis and Rita Delperdang of Marcus, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Delperdang of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; and a grandson, Mark Kinney.
