LE MARS, Iowa — Leonard Reichling, 80, of Le Mars, formerly of Oyens, Iowa, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Westwood Convalescent and Rest Home in Sioux City.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens with the Rev. Randy Schon and Monsignor Richard Zenk of Akron, Iowa, concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Reichling was born Oct. 1, 1917, the son of Peter and Mary (Masuen) Reichling, in rural Remsen, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Remsen and Oyens area after which he farmed in the Remsen area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Aug. 15, 1941, until being discharged on Jan. 3, 1946. He married Mary Zenk on June 18, 1947, in New Ulm, Minn. They farmed near Oyens until retiring and moving into Oyens in 1980. She died Aug. 23, 1986. He moved to Le Mars in May 1995.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, the V.F.W. Post 3328 of Remsen, and American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars.

Survivors include a son, Dennis of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Diane and her husband, Patrick McGranahan, of Omaha, Neb., Jan Brown of Denver, Colo., Joan Klein of Le Mars, and Cheryl and her husband, Lee Colvin, of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, and a sister, Marcella and her husband, LeRoy Niehus, of Remsen.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cyril.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Brown; Ben, Brian, and Kevin Klein; and; Eric and Scott Reichling.
