OYENS, Iowa — Helen Pick, 64, of Oyens died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Shon and the Rev. Timothy J. Hogan officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. said by the St. Catherine's Guild and the Christian Mothers, and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Mrs. Pick was born March 17, 1933, in rural Oyens, the daughter of George and Josephine (Arens) Homan. She moved to the Alton, Iowa, area as a child. She was raised in the Alton area and attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1951.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for Gilmore Grain and the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce.

She married Donald Pick on May 21, 1960, in Alton. The couple farmed in Union Township for several years before moving into Oyens in 1965. In 1966, she resumed book-keeping part time at Wells Dairy for several years, then did custodial work for St. Catherine's Parish. Later she worked at the Le Mars Liquor Store for 10 years, then did part-time bookkeeping for St Catherine's Parish, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, the Church Guild and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Deb and Rick Sitzmann of Hinton, Iowa, and Denise and Tom Murphy of Orange City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Sara, Bradley and Mariya Sitzmann and Colby, Caitlin and Carli Murphy; and three brothers and their wives, Loyal and Francie Mae "Bib", Milo and Delia and Dale and Sharon, all of Remsen, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Randy Frericks, Randy Hoffman, Chad and Harvey Homan, Todd Pick and Mark
Schneckloth.
