BERTHA HELD
Bertha (Ben) Held, 82, of Kingsley died Friday, July 20, 2001, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley. The former Bertha Rosenmerkel was born February 16, 1919, in rural Kingsley, the daughter of Albert and Tille (Kruse) Rosenmerkel. She attended rural school in Lincoln Township for eight years and graduated from Hinton High School in 1936. Bertha was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Hinton. She married George Held in 1939, and the couple farmed in the Hinton and Kingsley areas until retiring in the spring of 1974. In the spring of 1976, Bertha and George moved to LeMars where they lived until moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas. The couple moved back to Kingsley on November 7, 1996. Survivors include her husband George; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Held and his wife Fern of Hinton and Max Puttmann and his wife Marilyn of Kingsley; one sister-in-law Florence Held of Hinton. She preceded in death by her parents; one sister Frieda Puttmann; two brothers George Rosenmerkel and Walter Rosenmerkel. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. Burial in Kingsley Cemetery.
