MARGARET MUECKE
Funeral services were held Thursday for Margaret Muecke, 101, of Hinton who died Monday, October 29, 2001, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Margaret was born April 19, 1900, on a farm north of Kingsley, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Thiesen) Hardersen. Margaret helped with the milking chores and raising chickens from incubators. She also helped with plowing using a team of five horses. She married Martin Muecke March 9, 1921, in Sioux City. The couple lived and farmed in rural Hinton. Margaret and Martin traveled extensively going to Europe to visit Margaret’s mother side of the family in the Schleswig-Holstein area in Germany. They also spent time in England, Holland, and Switzerland. Other travels took them to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Alaska and Hawaii. Martin died December 23, 1963. After her husband’s death, Margaret continued to live on the farm until 1995 when she moved to North Park Assisted Living in Sioux City. She moved to Brentwood in Le Mars in 1999. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting afghans. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hinton for many years. She was honored for being a 75 years member of Farm Bureau. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Hinton. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
