Death Claims Akron Pioneer.
Jack Tresler Was Well Known and Popular Citizen.Last rites were held Thursday afternoon in the Christian church at Akron
for A. J. Tresler, 71, pioneer of that vicinity. Rev. W. H. McDonald
officiated and interment was made in Riverside cemetery in Akron.Mr. Tresler, known as "Jack" Tresler, died April 1 in a hospital at
Mitchell, S.D. For the past two years he had been at Stickney, S.D. where a
daughter, Mrs. Walter Bourret, resides.Andrew Jackson Tresler was born May 31, 1864. He was united in marriage
with Miss Ida Batchelder, of Akron, in 1884 and their union was blessed
with nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Tresler preceded him
in death in 1908. Mr. Tresler resided in Akron many years and one time was
engaged in the dray business here. A man of industrious habits, of genial
personality, a kind husband and father and helpful neighbor and friend,.he
held a wide acquaintance and made may friends, who regret to hear of his
passing and extend sympathy to the family. He is survived by two daughters
and six sons, as follows: Mrs. L.J. Berfiend, of Buffalo gap, S.D.; Mrs
Walter Bourret of Stickney, S.D.; Ira Tresler, of Akron; Floyd Tresler, of
St. James, Minn.; Walter Tresler, of Canton, S.D.; Lee Tresler of Moorhead,
Minn.; Vinton Tresler of Estes Park, Colo., and Merle Tresler of Hawarden,
Iowa.

A. J. Tressler, a pioneer of Akron, and well known here, passed away in a hospital in Mitchell, S.D., Monday, April 1st. For the past two years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Walter Bourret at Stickney, S.D. His remains were brought to Akron where funeral services were held last Thursday and interment was made in the cemetery there.Andrew Jackson Tressler was born May 31, 1864, so was almost 74 years of age at the time of his death. He was united in marriage with Ida Batchelder of Akron in 1884 and to this union were born nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Tressler passed away in 1908. Mr. Tressler resided at Akron for many years and at one time was engaged in the dray business there.
He is survived by eight children: Mrs. J. F. Berfiend, Buffalo Gap, S.D.; Mrs. Walter Bourett, Stickney, S.D.; Ira Tressler, Akron; Floyd Tressler, St. James, Minn.; Walter Tressler, Canton, S.D.; Lee Tressler, Moorhead, Minn.; Vinton Tressler, Estes Park, Colo.; and Merle Tressler, Hawarden.
Lee Tressler made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dale for some time.Source: Hawarden Independent, April 11, 1935
