Former Akron Man Dies In Missouri

The following special special to the Quincy (Ill.) Herald from Durham, Mo., tells of the death on January 19 of James E. Whitaker, of Durham, a former Akron resident, and brother-in-law of Lloyd Lemen, of Akron:

“Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Durham Baptist church for James E. Whitaker, who died Saturday in his home. The Riv. Virgil Graves, pastor of the church, conducted the services.

James Edward Whitaker, son of Bushrod and Nancy Whitaker, was born July 20, 1875. He united with the Baptist church at an early age. He was married November 5, 1899, to Cora Lee Lemen, who preceded him in death. They were the parents of six sons, the oldest, Willie, dying in infancy.

The following sons survive; Eugene and Howard, of Chicago; Charles of Bowen; Raymond, of Pierre, S. D.; Basil, of Hamburg, Iowa, and 22 grandchildren.

On December 2, 1939, he was married to Elsie Lemen Wright, who married to Elsie Lemen Wright, who survives. He also leaves a brother, survives. He also leaves a brother, Henry Whitaker, of Pontiac, Mich.”
