ELFRIEDA SCHOENROCK
Elfrieda Schornrock, 89, of Hinton died Friday, October 20, 2000, at the Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City. Elfrieda Marie Elizabeth Muecke was born January 15, 1911, on the family farm in Lincoln Township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Reimers) Muecke. Elfrieda was baptized at home and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church Hinton. She received her education in a one room country school near her home in Lincoln Township. On May 3,1933, she married Walter Schoenrock at Trinity Lutheran Church. Walter and Elfrieda were blessed with four children, Alice, Lois, Norma and Phyllis. The couple farmed in Lincoln Township until 1979, when they retired and moved to Le Mars. Elfrieda began teaching Sunday school at age 17 and later taught mid-week (confirmation) classes at Trinity for many years. She also enjoyed participating in L W M L and Ladies Aid at Trinity. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading. Survivors include four daughters Alice and Lee Lambert of Sioux City; Lois Cherin of Sioux City; Norma and Jay Newberger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Phyllis Oglesby of Glastonbury, Connecticut, two sisters, Irmgard Luksan of Le Mars and Maria Kounkel of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a brother Kenneth Muecke of Hinton; a sister-in-law Bernice Muecke of Hinton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter Schoenrock on April 30, 1981; two bothers Raymond in infancy and Bernard Muecke; two grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
