Juanita Schoen, 77, of Merrill died Friday, December 17, 1999, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. The former Juanita Blackmore was born December 15, 1922, on the family farm near Merrill, the daughter of Walter and Hedvig (Schultz) Blackmore. Juanita attended country school near Merrill until she was needed to help with the farm and care for her younger brothers and sisters. On February 22, 1941, she married Marvin Schoen at Merrill. She later returned to school and worked as a nurse’s aide at Marion Health Center in Sioux City until her retirement. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Marvin of Merrill; two daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Richard Kneip of Oyens and Vivian and Ronald Isaacson of Sioux City; Seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers Lawrence Blackmore of Hinton; John Blackmore and his wife Marian of Merrill; Orville Blackmore and his wife Viola of Merrill; Walter Blackmore of Rochelle, Illinois; Larry Blackmore of Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters Mary Crippen and her husband Jack of Merrill; Dorothy Hesebeck of Sioux City; Lorinne Hawkins and her husband Kenneth of Maurice. She preceded in death by her parents, seven children, a brother and sister. Funeral services were held at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Johnson Township, rural Merrill.
