Robert W. Dunham

Robert Wayne Dunham, 68, of Elk Point, S.D. died Wednesday, Nov. 23,1994 at his home after a brief bout with cancer.

Services were held Mon., Nov. 28, 1994 at Brule Creek Lutheran church, rural Elk Point, S. D., the Rev. Leslie Hernes officiating.

Congregational singing included “What A Friend,”and “Blest Be The Tie That Binds,”Linda Hummel sang “How Great Thou Art”and “In the Garden,” Lori Johnson was organist. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Ia., under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home. Graveside rites were by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Elk Point and Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron.

Mr. Dunham was born September 8, 1926, the son of Charles Lloyd and Stella (Dunn) Dunham, Sr., on the family farm in Union county, S. D. He served in the Army Infantry during World War II. After returning home, he farmed with his brother, Roy,in Union county, until his marriage to Jeannette Hummel on October 6, 1956, in Elk Point. They then moved to California, but returned to this area in 1960 to raise their family. He was employed as a farm hand for Burdette Quam until his retirement in 1983.

Survivors are his wife, Jeannette; a son, Thomas and his wife, Kay of Elk Point, S.D.; 3 daughters, Dianna Marbrey and her husband, Nathan of Orlando, Fla., Rebecca Kjose and her husband Randall of Akron, Ia., Wanda Hartle and her husband Michael of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Roy of Akron Ia.; two sisters, Lois Friske and Betty Jacobson both of Akron, Ia.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Victoria; his parents; four brothers, George, Charles, Elmer, and Orville; and two sisters, Ruth and Dorothy.

He was loved and respected by his family and friends, who while they mourn his passing from this life, acknowledge with joy, the glorious gift he has been given of eternal life through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
