Roy H. "Swede" Dunham, 76, of Akron, Iowa died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at his residence..

Services were held Monday, July 7, 1997, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. William Flemr officiating. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" sung by Jon Harris, and "Amazing' Grace" sung by the congregation. Carol Harris accompanied on the organ, Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.

Casket bearers were Garry Jacobson, Clayton Jacobson, Darcy Jacobson, Russell Jacobson, Charles Crow and Tom Dunham. Honorary casket bearers were Donald Dunham II, Calvin Dunham, Archie Dunham, Jack Friske, Dick Crow and Dennis Crow.

Mr. Dunham was born October 7, 1920, in Elk Point, South Dakota, the son of Charles L. and Stella Alice (Dunn) Dunham. He began farming In South Dakota In 1948 and continued to farm until 1975 when he moved to Iowa. He worked for local farmers until moving into Akron in 1991 upon his retirement.

Survivors Include three brothers, Leo B. Dunham and Walter E. Dunham both of Elk Point, South Dakota, and Donald A. I and his wife Ruth Dunham of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Lois Friske and Betty Jacobson, both of Akron, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Orville, George, Charles, Elmer and Robert; and two sisters, Ruth and Dorothy.
