Walter E. Dunham

Walter E. Dunham, 83, of Elk Point, South Dakota, died on Thursday, December 3, 1998 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 5, 1998 at Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor William Flemr officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron.

Pallbearers were Calvin Dunham, Archie Dunham, Jack Friske, Thomas Dunham, Garry Jacobson, and Clayton Jacobson. Honorary pallbearers were Don Dunham, Jr., Darcy Jacobson, Charles Crow, Dennis Crow, Richard Crow, Russell Jacobson. Pianist was Carol Harris with Jon Harris as soloist.

Mr. Dunham was born on September 8, 1915 in rural Westfield, Iowa, the son of Charles and Stella (Dunn) Dunham. He attended school in South Dakota. He had worked on different farms ; in South Dakota for many years. He also worked in construction and at a packing plant for a brief period. Mr. Dunham enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two brothers, Donald Sr. and his wife Ruth Dunham of Sioux Falls, SD and Leo Dunham of Elk Point, SD; one sister, Betty Jacobson of Akron, LA; one sister-in-law, Jeannette Dunham of Alcester, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Georg, Charles, Elmer, Orville, Roy, and Robert;three sisters, Ruth Crow, Lois Friske, and Dorothy in infancy.
