RITES FOR PIONEER AKRON RESIDENT HELD SATURDAY

Arthur Bellwood Had Lived Most of His Life In This Vicinity

Arthur Bellwood, who had lived in Akron vicinity since early pioneer days, passed away April 7, 1957, in St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City, following a brief illness, aged 87 years, 6 months and 9 days. He had resided at Leeds Nursing Home, Sioux City, for a short time before his final illness.

Born Sept. 29. 1871, in the state of Connecticut, he came to this vicinity with his parents at the age of four years. On March 15, 1893, he was united in marriage with Miss Gertrude Gibson. He followed the carpenter trade here until his health no longer permitted. Mr. Bellwood became a member of the Methodist church in Akron on March 20, 1904, and has always been a faithful attendant, seldom missing Sunday school or church services.

He was preceded in death by his wife on June 11, 1939, also by one brother and two sisters.

Left to mourn his passing are two sons, Alva and Dalton, of Akron; two daughters. Mrs. Delia Orth, of Yankton, S. D., and Mrs. Cleo Henke, of Aurelia, Iowa; also, 10 grandchildren. 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bellwood was a kind and loving father and a great lover of children. He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p. m. in Wesley Methodist church, Rev. Chester L. Guinn officiating. A quartet comprised of Mrs. Esther Ferguson, Mrs. Harold Johnson, Frank Mather and Robert Kerr, Sr., sang " Rock of Ages" and Faith of Our Fathers." Mrs. Harry Nelson was pianist.

Pallbearers were Vern Swift. Albert Elliott, J. F. McVay, Fred Marienau, Robert Kerr, Sr., and Sieben Siebens. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
